ABOUT THE ARTIST
BIOGraphy
MOZIAH, 22, is a recording artist from Central Jersey.
Raised by two Haitian Immigrant doctors, Marcus Moziah Guerrier’s entertainment background stems from all over. In his childhood, he dipped his feet anywhere he could: from community theatre and church choirs to musicals and DIY punk in high school. Music was always present wherever he went; and he'd grown to love that.
His first week at NYU, he got a bootleg copy of Logic from his roommate and began making beats on his own while he studied Drama. At age 18, he started to release music under his middle name, MOZIAH.
In November of 2018, MOZIAH, with co-producer Theodore, dropped the debut album, Dax Nextdoor. They coin it a coming-of-age story about fear, love, and learning to f*ck with yourself. Written, produced, and recorded out of MOZIAH and Theodore's bedrooms in Brooklyn, the album was met with positive acclaim upon release, with Lyrical Lemonade praising the project as: "A compilation of soulful grooves that hit the mark each time."
Strapped with an eclectic mix of influences and training in entertainment, MOZIAH strives to use music to tell true stories that KNOCK.
ABOUT The Video
We were in the midst of making another music video for an unreleased when COVID-19 struck. Myself and a lot of my artist friends were given the boot from their professional gigs and means of income.
In light of this crazy time; we wanted to create a space for people to express and celebrate themselves from home, however that looks like.
We asked people from all over to submit footage of themselves singing, dancing, or playing an instrument, or however they do them to our song DO YOU. It’s a Virtual Pajama Party.
ABOUT The Project
Finessa Hudgens is our first EP and our second project.
The EP is a mini sequel to our debut album (Dax Nextdoor). With the EP (5 songs), we aimed to make a soulful, tropical adventure with a surprise inside.
Finessa Hudgens was named after my old finsta.
The songs I was writing this year cut a little deeper and brought to light things I’d usually keep to myself; so I felt it was right to name it after the place where all the personal stuff goes.
It’s been a transition time for me. I had moved from Brooklyn, where I wrote Dax Nextdoor, earlier this year. Instead of subways and parks, I’m at the beach most evenings and I wanted to write to that. It’s an audio sunset from one chapter to the next.
